Robert Bagonza with his homemade shampoo. TentMaker Profile: Robert Bagonza

"We don’t know where to begin and where to end in thanking you," said pastor Robert as he ushered us into the wooden post-and-slat structure of Kitintale Presbyterian Church. His earnest concern for his church shows on his face, and it shows in the high level of Bible knowledge the church members have acquired through his teaching.

Robert has also proven to be an example to the flock through his home business of shampoo-making. He holds up a plastic bucket filled with the orange liquid that he sells to hair salons around the city of Kampala. A loan from The TentMaker Project boosted his shampoo production from 40 liters a week to 80 liters a week. Now he is able to afford to send his children to a Christian school.

Several years ago, Robert’s wife died, but recently, Robert has taken an interest in a beautiful, godly widow named Monica. He asks for prayer in God’s provision of dowry money (over a million Ugandan shillings) and for healing from a minor stroke that has left the right side of his face paralyzed.
