Pray for The TentMaker Project

Please remember the following items through the coming month in your personal prayers. Consider also sharing these requests with others and pasting them into your church bulletin or newsletter!

May 2006

The following is a letter from Wyatt George as he prepares to lead the annual TentMaker Project Field Visit to Uganda. Please remember the following items through the coming month in your personal prayers. Consider also sharing these requests with others and pasting them into your church bulletin or newsletter! We thank God for you in being generous supporters of The TentMaker Project in prayer and contributions. Our travel needs are such that Judee, Frank and Cindy May and I earnestly request you prayer every day. The trip commences on April 24th and concludes on May 14th for two of us. Frank and Cindy, a couple from Arizona, will be there for a shorter period. Here is how you can pray for us:

• SUNDAYS. For the actual travels to Uganda and within the country: Safety, connections, rest, health and personal care, drivers, guides. These are some of the needs that come to mind. Sunday worship services include preaching and teaching by the team members.

• MONDAYS. Judee Zanotti will lead a single women's seminar in Kampala, and perhaps in one other location. Pray for her teaching, open hearts to the Truth, continued impact after actual teaching. She will also visit businesses, assist in evaluation, and take pictures.

• TUESDAYS. Our team members Frank and Cindy May will do quite a lot of business-to-business visitation, to learn as much as they can about The TentMaker Project, and thus enhance their future services in Uganda.

• WEDNESDAYS. Provisions for in-country work: travel/housing/food/guides/health, etc. Pray too for our churches and family members we leave behind for three weeks. Pray for us to be faithful in prayer for you. It would be a wonderful thing for God to quicken our souls to serve Him better. Pray also for Dean, Nate, and Nathan as they fill the pulpit in my absence at Evangelical Presbyterian Church back in Carbondale.

• THURSDAYS. Scripture teaching and TentMaker Project (TMP) seminar teaching of TMP leaders in and around Kampala, as well as in the trading center town of M'Barara, southwest of Kampala is Wyatt's main task on this trip, plus a lot of evaluation counseling with local church leaders of TMP.

• FRIDAYS. The TentMaker Project concerns itself with micro-loans to church members who have micro-businesses, but also educational assistance to orphans and others without full family support, and a food and Gospel ministry called “Five Loaves” to the hungry in the neighborhood of two of the churches. We expect to revisit all aspects of our ministry on this trip. Sensible compassion needed!

• SATURDAYS. Work with the Ugandan leadership of The TentMaker Project while in the country, addressing policy and administration. Pray for wisdom. I have less time in-country on this trip, and the effort to compress our services may tax not only us but our host.

April 2006

1. Nate Wilson is transferring from his position as Director of Development of The TentMaker Project in order to accept a call as a pastor in Manhattan, KS. Please pray for Nate and his family as they move and pray for God’s provision of staff for The TentMaker Project.

2. The TentMaker Project is now registered with the Guidestar list of charities. You can check it out by going to www.NetworkForGood.org and typing in “TentMaker” or “Uganda Development” Among other things, it means you can give through United Way.

3. Please remember the board meeting (April 21) and banquet (April 22) for the TentMaker Project at Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, IL. Pray for wisdom as the board members make decisions, and pray for a good turnout at the banquet – you are invited!

4. We ask you to pray for the members of the short-term team traveling to Uganda on April 24 to teach and visit the field operations of The TentMaker Project – health, safety, courage, strength, alertness, wisdom, grace, and love are all needed!

March 2006

1. Praise God for the peaceful elections in Uganda. Pray for God to give President Museveni wisdom to be a good leader and for peace and harmony in a healthy environment of political competition.

2. Planning is underway for the annual TentMaker Project trip to Uganda, scheduled to leave in late April. A good team has come together; please pray for them as they prepare to go and train leaders of the TentMaker Project in Uganda.

3. Praise God for new avenues this month to promote the vision of the TentMaker Project through the Mission Catalyst E-zine and the Murphysboro Good News Paper. May God lead people as they read these articles to become partners, and may He provide more opportunities to spread the vision of The TentMaker Project.

4. Please remember The TentMaker Project leadership as they prepare for the board meeting in April. Much research and analysis is being done in order to be good stewards of God’s money, so pray for the ability to create reports that are helpful in wisely guiding the future ministry of the TentMaker Project.

5. The TentMaker Project welcomes you to attend a 6:00pm banquet at Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, IL on April 22. Please mark it on your calendar and pray for the committee as they organize this event to report on developments in the organization and commission this year’s team to Uganda.

February 2006

1. This year’s TentMaker Project trip to Uganda is scheduled for April 24-May 10. Please pray for Wyatt, Judee, Frank and Cindy as they prepare to go to Uganda and give the training seminars.

2. Thank God for the good exposure that The TentMaker Project got in two e-zines last month. We are hoping to get more exposure in other magazines, please pray for opportunities.

3. Praise God for the good exposure that The TentMaker Project received at the mission conference in Rome, GA last month. Our next opportunity to represent The TentMaker Project is at a mission conference in Edwardsville, IL, March 5. Please pray for God’s blessings there.

4. Last month, The TentMaker Project received a special gift from an ophthalmologist in the USA to offer eye care to the congregation of Kitintale Presbyterian Church in Uganda. Please pray for this gift to be used in a way that brings long-lasting benefit to that church.

5. Please keep praying for the recruitment process for an Administrative Secretary for The TentMaker Project. Interviews have been conducted with four candidates, and proposals have been sent to three organizations to request start-up funding for salary. We are still waiting for positive responses.

January 2006

1. TentMaker Project Director of Development Nate Wilson is spending the first week of January on the road with his family. Please pray for God’s blessing on the mission conference at First Presbyterian Church in Rome, GA, as Nate speaks there, and pray for his wife and eight children as they travel.

2. A year ago, when the first TentMaker Project email update was sent out, it mentioned the creation of a logo and a website. Recently, a professional website developer, Blue Dove Designs, has offered to upgrade The TentMaker Project logo and website as a gift. Please pray for wisdom as we see the need to make this upgrade and budget time to work with Blue Dove to make the improvements.

3. A high priority for The TentMaker Project for 2006 is to acquire an Administrative Secretary. This position will include preparing mailings, answering phone and correspondence, doing upkeep on the website, office maintenance, fund-raising, and promotion of The TentMaker Project. Please pray for God’s provision of the right person and the finances necessary to support a secretary.

4. After a year of building internal structure, The TentMaker Project is ready to increase the number of partnerships it facilitates between churches in the USA and in Africa. Please pray for God’s blessing as we find ways to spread the word about The TentMaker Project to more American churches.

December 2005

1. Pastors from Zambia and Chile have contacted The TentMaker Project in the last month about starting ministry in their countries. At the same time, we are ready to extend ministry into a second area in Uganda. Please pray for God’s provision of funds for new ministry fields, and pray for wisdom as Wyatt holds discussions with new contacts.

2. Praise God for His provision in getting the word out about The TentMaker Project! Special gifts came in November that covered the printing of thousands of brochures, AND the web site was also completed this November! Please pray that God will use these tools to raise up more partners, and be sure to see the new videos!

3. Thanks to the assistance of a volunteer I.T. consultant last month, The TentMaker Project has a new administrative system that integrates our mailing list with our financial data and our information on recipients of the mercy ministry. Please pray for Nate and Linn as they finish filling in the information and begin using the new system – especially as they create a set of TentMaker Profiles this month to be mailed out to all who have donated to The TentMaker Project.

4. Plans are underway for a two-week mission trip to Uganda in April 2006. Please pray for Wyatt and the Ugandan Regional Committee as they begin to make plans for this vital part of The TentMaker Project ministry. If you are interested in being a part of this team, please contact Wyatt George. People with an ability to teach and coach on small-business and entrepreneurial skills are especially needed for this team.

5. Please see the email below and pray as God leads you.

Subject: Re: Vickie

Dear brother in Christ, Pastor Wyatt!!

Warmest greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thankful because in Him God forgave us all our sin, having canceled the written code, with it's regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; He took it away nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross (Col 2: 13-15)

Concerning Vickie, we thank you so much for all prayers. We decided that she first finishes her semester exams and then have the surgery. She will be finishing her exams on 13th Dec and the days we are looking at for her to have surgery are between 15th and 17th of Dec. Please continue to pray for us.

Concerning TMP ministry we are now busy encouraging people to make more effort in paying their pay backs before next year. And as far as giving out new loans that will be done early next year. We are trying to move more carefully and surely.

Five loaves: We are going to invite all the people in the slum Community around us to have an end of year meal with them on Sat 31st Dec 2005. The program will include singing and preaching and develop more relationship with the community around us, which will enable us to reach them more with the gospel. if there is a way you can increase on the December ammount that will be highly appreciated.

This is all for now my dear one in Christ. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (2Thess 5:23)

November 2005

1. Please pray for Vicki Bukenya, wife of Patrick who is a key leader in Uganda for The TentMaker Project. Vicki is scheduled for surgery to remove a fibroid, please pray that God would bring healing through this. She is also working hard to finish bachelor’s degree this month and would appreciate your prayers for success!

2. The TentMaker Project has grown to the point that we feel the need for an online database that can help us integrate our administrative tasks. Please pray for wisdom as Director of Development Nate Wilson consults with representatives of two Christian organizations that help mission agencies with computer solutions.

3. The Ugandan Regional Committee of The TentMaker Project meets at this time. Please pray for God to give them wisdom as they implement the ministry on the ground. Pray also for their ability to meet the challenge of filling out the accounting forms that they must submit to the American board.

4. As we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday and thank God for providing our needs this year, let us also remember the exhortation that the Apostles gave to Paul and Barnabus in Galatians 2:10: “Remember the poor.”

5. Please remember Wyatt George as he travels to Atlanta to the board meeting of Africa Christian Training Institute (ACTI). This is a strategic gathering to coordinate The TentMaker Project with several other ministries focused on Uganda.

Help spread the word; ask your church’s webmaster to link your church website to The TentMaker Project website!

October 2005

1. Praise God for His blessings on the trip that Director of Development, Nate Wilson took to promote The TentMaker Project in New Mexico, Colorado, and Kansas! Please pray for Nate and his family as they catch up after five weeks on the road, and pray for a good response from the eight churches where he shared on the trip.

2. Patrick Bukenya, a Ugandan pastor who is Treasurer of the Regional Committee of The TentMaker Project in Uganda, is visiting churches in Texas, Illinois, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina this month. He wishes to convey thanks for your support of The TentMaker Project. Please remember him in prayer as he travels and speaks.

3. Please pray for Wyatt George as he interviews a candidate for Administrative Secretary for The TentMaker Project. We are excited about this possibility and would appreciate your prayers for wisdom in the selection process and for God’s provision of the finances necessary to bring this key person onto our staff.

4. The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Carbondale Illinois, which hosts The TentMaker Project, holds its annual world mission conference Sept 21-23. If you are available, we welcome you to attend. Please keep our church in your prayers, that God would cause us to grow and that God would bless the efforts of the mission committee, coordinated by Betsy George, to keep the church aware of God’s work in the world and effectively engaged in it.
