Requirements for Loan Applications - Uganda

These are the requirements for applicants to micro-loans through The TentMaker Project in Uganda:

  1. You must be a member of a qualifying local church or a pastor in a qualifying presbytery. The presbyteries currently qualified include Central and Rwenzori presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church in Uganda. The local churches currently qualified include: Kampala, Nakitokolo, Luwero, Mutungo, Nakumba, and Kitintale. *
  2. You must be a member in good standing of that church or presbytery – not under church discipline.
  3. You must have a business that is already started and shows promise for growth.
  4. You must attend a TentMaker Project training seminar. (Click here for information about the seminar content.)
  5. You must fill out an application. Click here to download an application.
  6. You must submit that application to The TentMaker Project Committee One of your qualifying church or, if you are a pastor, to the TentMaker Project Regional Committee Two. This committee will determine if a loan can be extended to you.
  7. If you are chosen for a loan, you will be asked to sign a pay-back note, stating the terms by which you will repay and the collateral you will put up for the loan.
  8. If you receive a loan, you must submit to the accountability of the committee to visit your business, encourage you to be faithful to the terms of your pay-back note, and to their offers of help if you should be unable to meet the terms of your pay-back note. If you fail to pay back the loan, you will not be eligible for another loan in the future.

* If you are located in Uganda and you are a member in good standing of a church or presbytery not listed above, you may contact the Regional Committee to ask them to consider qualifying your church or presbytery. The Regional Committee will evaluate the faithfulness of your church or presbytery to the teachings of the Bible and the adequacy of your church government to provide the accountability necessary for the success of the micro-loan program.
